Strawberry Ice Cream
I’m pretty excited about this recipe it because it’s ICE CREAM! Basically my favorite thing in the world. When it gets warm out (or basically all year round..), my favorite ice cream maker is always running. I can’t get enough of homemade ice cream! Especially when it’s strawberry ice cream that is stuffed full of fresh strawberries.
A few of our other favorite ice cream recipes are Cookie Dough (YAAAAAA!), Nutter Butter and Banana Split!
There’s just something special about a hot summer day and cold ice cream isn’t there? I typically don’t crave ice cream until it’s HOT and we know that is coming soon. Plus, it’s such a great make ahead dessert when you have family and friends over.
No one is ever going to turn down delicious homemade ice cream and if they do I might start to second guess our friendship!
Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream
Like I said the key to this strawberry ice cream is that fresh strawberries are used in the ice cream so the strawberry flavor is so creamy, fresh and chock full of so much strawberry flavor.
I love chocolate, but when it comes to ice cream, strawberry is definitely one of my favorites!
Summer + Fruit = Heaven!
Add that fruit into ice cream and the angels sing down around me!
Ingredients Needed to Make Strawberry Ice Cream
First of all it only takes FIVE ingredients. SCORE! Plus, when you make it at home you know what’s going into your ice cream, no funny business!
- Heavy cream
- Whole milk
- Cornstarch
- Agave nectaror honey
- Strawberries
How to Make the BEST Strawberry Ice Cream Recipe
In a small saucepan, heat cream, milk, cornstarch and agave on medium-low heat until bubbly and thickened slightly, whisking constantly, about 5 minutes. Once the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon, place the pot with hot mixture into a large bowl filled with ice water and whisk it constantly until cool to the touch.
Place strawberries in a blender and puree for about two minutes until completely smooth. Push mixture through a fine mesh strainer over a bowl to remove seeds and discard them. If you don’t mind the seeds, you can omit this step.
Once the cream mixture is cooled down, whisk in strawberry puree until fully incorporated. Cover mixture with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator to chill for two hours. Pour mixture into ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer’s instructions, about 20-30 minutes or so. Pour into an airtight container and freeze 4-6 hours or overnight. Allow ice cream to set out for a few minutes before scooping.
Tips & Tricks for Making Homemade Ice Cream
- You do need an ice cream maker to prepare this ice cream.
- Real strawberries are pureed and strained (or not, personal preference – I don’t like the seeds in my ice cream!) for the freshest flavor.
- The more ripe the strawberries are, the better your ice cream will taste!
- If you want strawberry chunks in your ice cream reserve 1/2 cup sliced strawberries and add them right before you chill the ice cream for two hours!

Julie,
Thanks for your recipe! However, I noticed your loaf pan picture of the ice cream seems to show strawberry chunks in it. Please clarify 🙂
I can’t wait to try this!!! <3Reply

Hey! The strawberry chunks are from the fresh strawberries in the recipe. At the end of the recipe it says to pour it into an airtight container. That’s where the loaf pan comes into play!

Marta wondered where the strawberry chunks came from – the recipe says that the strawberries are pureed then put thru a sieve – so where do the chunks come from?
Julie Evink says
If you want strawberry chunks in your ice cream reserve 1/2 cup sliced strawberries and add them right before you chill the ice cream for two hours!
